I blog to learn… And to teach… And to learn…

I LOVE learning! And have a learning plan for 2012 like you wouldn’t believe. I have so many books and manuals to read, so many CDs and podcasts to listen to. In fact, so much so, I’m thinking of taking a speed reading (speed listening?) course… I also learn a lot from blogs. In fact, it is other peoples’ blogs that inspired me to blog myself. I have had the privilege of learning some amazing things through my own personal reading, formal training and personal interactions and I use this learning to serve my clients the best I can. I also learn so much from my clients, all of whom are striving to be the best versions of themselves. Something I find inspiring and makes coaching so very rewarding.

Information should be shared, not withheld, and I am so fortunate to be blessed with the most amazing mentors, friends and colleagues (see Good People) who are an unending source of inspiration and information that I can turn into content. Also, what better way to remember something than to teach it to someone else? See, this isn’t an entirely selfless enterprise I’ve got going here!

Someone once told me that you are either growing or dying. Wow. Two very extreme choices! Every interaction you have is an opportunity to learn if you choose to. It is just a matter of making that choice. Sometimes it is hard to easily see a learning opportunity from some experiences. Perhaps it’s worth asking yourself: “What can I learn from this?”. It might be hard at first, but like everything new, it gets easier the more you do it. Make it a habit by practising. Yes, even when someone cuts you off in traffic! When you do discover the learning (and you will!) why not then teach it to someone else? This will not only serve another person but imprint the learning in you. Go on, I know you can do it!

Learn! Live! Grow!

  1. Great post Emma and as the great Albert Einstein said: If you can’t explain it simply – you don’t understand it well enough.
